WINDSOR FOODSERVICE CENTRAL MIDSANDS FOOTBALL LEAGUE REPORT FOR SATURDAY 26th MAY 2012 by Frank Harwood.
WESTELLA & WILLERBY PIP THORESBY C W FOR THE TITLE!
East Riding club Westella & Willerby, are the Black Dragon North Division champions, a 4-1 win against visitors Glapwell ensured the title and possible promotion to the Northern Counties East League. Praise must be given to second placed club Thoresby Colliery Welfare, this unfashionable Nottinghamshire club ran the front runners all the way and deservedly finished runners up. Derbyshire club Dronfield Town finished in third place, a good season for the club having also won the Baris League Challenge cup. Clipstone Welfare finally had to be content with fourth place, having led the division for most of the season, only to be denied a top three finish, when the clubs below them caught up with their fixtures.
The outstanding decision to be taken, in the CU Phosco Lighting Reserves Premier Division was also resolved, Nottinghamshire team Southwell City Reserves needed to win their final game, to take the runners up spot, against Basford United Reserves, but they crashed to defeat losing 8-1 at the War Memorial Recreation Ground. This meant Belper United Reserves finished runners up to Calverton Miners Welfare Reserves, a good achievement in their first season in the CMFL. In the other outstanding game to be played Thoresby Colliery Welfare Reserves shared ten goals with Newark Town Reserves. |

Report for Saturday 19th May 2012 |
WINDSOR FOODSERVICE CENTRAL MIDLANDS FOOTBALL LEAGUE REPORT FOR SATURDAY 19th MAY 2012 by Frank Harwood.
Glapwell will decide the winners of the Black Dragon North Division; the Derbyshire club complete their fixtures at Westella & Willerby and the East Riding club need a win to take the title from the present leaders Thoresby Colliery Welfare. In the Black Dragon South Division, the match between Clifton and Nottingham United finished the programme and it was another bad day for fourth placed Clifton, who finished the season with successive defeats, tenth placed Nottingham United winning 4-2 at the Memorial Ground. South Normanton Reserves got the better of bottom of the table Clipstone Welfare Reserves in the Glenwood Printing Reserves Supreme Division. In this division Staveley Miners Welfare Reserves retained the title with Borrowash Victoria Reserves runners up, Staveley had a ten point advantage over the runners up. Two matches are still to be played in the CU Phosco Reserves Premier Division and one of the matches is vital. This is my final report of the season, completing my twenty fourth season of carrying out this duty for the CMFL, I have offered to again do it for the league next season, even though I retired on the 6th May.

Windsor Foodservice Central Midlands Football League Baris League Challenge Cup Final
Clifton versus Dronfield Town Sunday 6th May 2012
On a day perfect for both playing and spectating, with the Impact Arena the home of Alfreton Town Football Club looking absolutely perfect, the pitch not only looking like a bowling green but also appearing to be the first match of the season and not the last.
All was set for an exciting, completive game, which hopefully would further enhance the standard of football played in the league.
The fact that the two teams where from the respective Black Dragon South Division, Clifton and the Black Dragon North Division, Dronfield Town, added spice to the occasion.
Nobody was disappointed, certainly the neutrals, the match started sensationally with Dronfield Town taking the lead in only the second minute, with the Clifton defence seemingly still in the dressing room, Dronfield’s Andy Grange converted a cross field pass superbly, tucking the shot past Joe Parlett from an acute angle and when the same player put Dronfield further in front in the sixteenth minute it looked as if the occasion was too much for the Nottinghamshire club.
However, to their credit they ‘rolled up their sleeves’ and tore into the Derbyshire club, completely turning the game on its head, with a good vocal following, they deservedly pulled a goal back in the 26th minute Jake Richardson scoring from close range.
It must be said prior to this, Clifton had missed seemingly much easy chances and they continued to make chances and spurn their opportunities, Dronfield appeared ‘punched drunk’, as the white shirted Clifton side surged forward and their dominance was rewarded in the thirty ninth minute when Ben Richardson levelled the score.
2-2 at half time but Clifton should have had at least a two goal advantage.
The second half started as the first half, with Dronfield Town reasserting their authority on the game, as the sun continued to spill over the ground and by this time spectators had dismantled their coats and pullovers, Dronfield went 3-2 in front in the fifty third minute, Richard Mintoff heading in from a corner and they again went two in front two minutes later, Aiden Ashtton converting a penalty.
We waited with bated breath, it was that sort of final, for Clifton’s reply, but sadly it was not to be and the game was finally put beyond them in the 80th minute when the Dronfield Town substitute Dan Wood made it 5-2.
The final score was rough justice on a Clifton team that helped to make it an excellent final which on the balance of play it must be said that Dronfield Town where in the end worthy winners but a game that befitted the occasion.
Credit also to the officials, with referee Paul Vardy having an excellent game.
At the conclusion of the game an era came to an end when the CMFL League Chairman Frank Harwood made the announcements and presentations for the last time, having announced his intentions of retiring from the league after the game after forty one years with the league and thirty two years as the League Chairman.

WINDSOR FOODSERVICE CENTRAL MIDLANDS FOOTBALL LEAGUE REPORT FOR SATURDAY 12th MAY 2012 by Frank Harwood.
DRONFIELD GO TOP: WESTELLA WIN AT THORNE:
The Black Dragon North Division title race is seemingly going to the last match of the season, with the with the champions being decided when the two clubs, who appear to be contesting the title, Dronfield Town and Westella & Willerby, meet next Saturday at Dronfield.
Both clubs won their games, Dronfield Town where given a scare by Yorkshire Main, before edging home 3-2.
Nick Horsfield (2) and Kieron Gallagher the home team marksmen.
Luke Hinsley netted both the Yorkshire Main goals.
This result took Dronfield Town into pole position, with the long-time leaders Clipstone Welfare, dropping to second place.
Thoresby Colliery Welfare are in third place and with one game left could still technically take the title, but that’s highly unlikely and would need Westella to win at Dronfield and lose one of their outstanding games.
Thoresby Colliery Welfare won 6-0 at the bottom club DFS Welbeck Welfare.
Gavin King led the way for Thoresby hitting a hat trick, Ollie Chappell netted twice and Greg Lowde added the other goal.
Thoresby’s final game of the season is away to FC05 Bilsthorpe.
Westella & Willerby are in fourth place, but with games in hand on the teams above them, if they win all their outstanding matches they will take the title.
Mike Pecora with a hat trick and with Dave Clement also on the score sheet, the East Riding club won 4-0 at Thorne Colliery.
Disappointing results for two Derbyshire clubs, Parkhouse surprisingly lost 3-0 at home against Bentley Colliery.
Wayne Lindley, Alex Rennie and Ashley Hunter the Bentley marksmen.
It was even worse for Glapwell; they were trounced 9-1 at Easington United.
A season that promised so much for Glapwell as turned into a nightmare.
Luke Taylor, Robbie Start and James Cousins all scored a brace for the home team, Gavin Thurkettle, James Dawson and Alex Roberts adding the other goals for the East Riding club.
Tim Grundy scored a consolation goal for Glapwell.
All’s dusted in the Black Dragon South Division, Champions Basford United finished off with a 3-1 away win at the bottom club, Kimberley Town.
Aaron Hooton (2) and Curtis McDonald the Basford sharp shooters.
Josh Deakin the Kimberley goal scorer.
Pinxton piped local rivals South Normanton for runners up spot.
Pinxton needed to win at Calverton Miners Welfare and they achieved that winning 4-2.
Wayne Cook (3) and Mark Houghton the Pinxton scorers.
Dan Hogg and David Reedman the Calverton scorers.
South Normanton will finish in third place.
A disappointing result for Clifton, who could still finish fourth, they went down to a shock home defeat against Nottinghamshire Police, in their last game in the league Police won 2-1.
Dean Msungama and Scott Singleton the Police scorers.
Andy Davies on target for Clifton.
Andrew Richards certainly donned his shooting boots for Nottingham United; he hit six as United shot down Newark Town, winning 7-4.
Carey Knight was the other United goal scorer.
Chris Self, Darren Baldwin, Mark Ellison and an own goal replying for Newark Town.
In their final league game of the season, the Glenwood Printers Reserves Supreme Division champions, Staveley Miners Welfare Reserves bowed out with a shock 2-0 defeat at bottom of the table Clipstone Welfare Reserves.
Clipstone have only won two games all season.
Josh Madin and Josh Clayton scored the Clipstone goals.
Despite this defeat, Staveley won the title by ten clear points from second placed Borrowash Victoria Reserves.
Belper Town Reserves could have finished second, had they won their last three games but they lost two and completed their programme with a 5-2 defeat at Christchurch Meadows, against the cup finalists, Dunkirk Reserves.
Lee Day hit a hat trick for the Nottinghamshire team, Declan Flowers and Killan O’Neill scoring the other visitors goals.
Ashley Hunter and Ben Rushby the Belper scorers.
‘The Nailors’ having to be content with third place in the table.
South Normanton Reserves still have a chance of escaping the bottom two places and remarkably still have five games to play.
They won 5-0 at Lees Lane against Mickleover Sports Reserves.
South Normanton scorers, Luke Crosby (2), Matthew Phillips, Steve O’Connell and Daniel Briscoe.
No matches in the CU Phosco Reserves Premier Division.
