Double Double For Westoning Recreation Club
The Bedfordshire Football League season was to draw to a close this week with the spotlight falling onto the various League Cup Finals, the top honour of the week going to Westoning Recreation Club  who in the final of The Britannia Cup found themselves 0-2 down inside the first five minutes to Oakley Sports with strikes from Sam Donadio and Jamie McLellan before they emerged 3-2 winners to complete a seasons league and cup double, goals from Robert Faulkner and Dave Shirley drawing them level early in the second half before Danny Hollis  came up with the winner two minutes from time.
 
But going one better were Meltis Corinthians who in lifting last Friday evenings Centenary Cup in a thrilling 4-3 extra time win over Flitwick Town have now claimed a seasons treble having already won The Sportsform Supported Division One Title and The Bedfordshire FA Junior Cup, goals in normal time from Matthew McMahon, and a brace from  Alex Woolston were cancelled out by Town strikes from Johnathan Smith, Richard Davidson and Dean Warren before a own goal in the opening half of extra time took the cup back to Miller road.
 
Not to be outdone by their first team, Westoning Recreation Club Reserves also completed a seasons league and cup double when a extra time goal from Neil  Reynolds took them to a 1-0 win over Woburn Reserves in The Jubilee Cup on Wednesday evening coming just forty-eight hours after they had claimed The Division Two title when Sandy Reserves were held to a 2-2 draw at Potton Wanderers on Bank Holiday Monday.
 
This seasons Watson Shield Final on Bank Hoilday Monday going to Clifton who were 6-1 winners over Henlow Reserves, Greg King on the scoresheet with a hattrick suppoted by a brace from Craig Pateman and a goal from Alec Fisher.to a lone reply from Colin Stanbury.
 
Away from the cup action The McGirls Money Management Supported Premier Divisions final two games saw Sandy with a help of a own goal and a strike from David Lenton net a 2-1 home win over Henlow whose reply came from James Gentry whilst Luton Borough were 5-1 away winners at Sharnbrook, Currant Milage netting three times alongside goals from Raymond Akender and Fountain Lewis to a home reply from James Billington.
 
Sandy however were to end their season on a losing note when going down to a 10-9 penalty shoot-out defeat to Stotfold Reserves in The Final Of The Biggleswade KO Cup after ninety minutes had seen the sides deadlocked at 1-1, Danny Liversidge shooting Stotfold ahead before a own goal levelled matters in the second half.
 
Also finishing the season on a losing note were this seasons Division Three Champions Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves who were beaten in their final game 1-0 away at Caldecote A whose goal came from Stuart Finding.
