The Doughboys put aside shot shy league form to spring a minor surprise at Royal Oak Way.

Danny Finlay had the Motormen in front five minutes before the interval, rounding off good build up by Ally Keay and Ian Waldock, but ten minutes after the restart Scott Cross put Wellingborough on terms, turning his marker to fire home from 20 yards.

Matt O'Neill and Ben Johnson set up a second Cross goal five minutes into extra time which gave Wellingborough the lead but they were pegged back by a 115th minute reply from Liam Hynes, who headed past Doughboys keeper Sean Markie.

With a replay little more than seconds away the Doughboys booked a place in the Second Round draw, ex-United man Mick Parkes the 119th minute matchwinner as he beat Motormen keeper Lee Farrow in the air.

Daventry: Lee Farrow, Ben Jones, Ally Keay, Ross Irvine, Ady Greatrex (Nick Bailie), Tim Orford, Brad Harris, Ian Waldock, Bobby Lea, Danny Finlay (Nicky Ling), Liam Hynes.
