Mansfield: Leon Nikitenko (2)
Enstone: Dan Tibble (1)
Due to the animal rights protesters activity in Oxford city centre on this sunny day, Mansfield Road FC Reserves travelled to Enstone for their "home" game. Mansfield Road FC is very grateful to the opposition and to the staff of their superb facilities at the ground for their hospitality and for arranging everything for this fixture.
Enstone Reserves started as a better side in the opening half and were extremely unlucky to find themselves 2-0 down within the first ten minutes. Couple of the counter-attacks by lively Mansfield Road FC side and the brace from Leon Nikitenko helped the visitors to set the lead, which at the end appeared to be just enough to win the game. Enstone Reserves continued to work very hard and their efforts were rewarded with a goal in the first half with Dan Tibble's header from a short range to finish the scramble in front of the goal after the well-delivered corner kick. Enstone Reserves kept piling up the pressure on Mansfield Road Reserves' defence and hit the crossbar just before the half-time, with their own re-structured and well-organised defence now capable to halt rare counter attacks from the opposition and denying their centre forward's hat-trick with clearing the ball off the line . Mansfield Road FC Reserves were relieved to hear the half-time whistle. Right from the start of the second half, Enstone Reserves continued their pressure on the opposition under constantly changing from "sunny-to-rainy-to-hailstoney-back-to-sunny" weather conditions. Mansfield Road FC looked tired but didn't give up their counter-attacking display, with their defence holding firm and they were very relieved to hear the final whistle for this goal-less second half. Once again, Mansfield Road FC is very grateful to Enstone FC and the staff, including the groundsman, for their hospitality, great food and for arranging everything for this fixture.
