Northampton Spencer 3 Eynesbury Rovers 3
Saturday, 25 August 2012
One point was enough to take Rovers to the top of the table, but they will be disappointed that two more slipped through their grasp at the death.
Spencer were seeking revenge for their opening day defeat at Hall Road, and went ahead ten minutes in through Jack Bartley who fired into the top corner from the edge of the box.
Ben Cole levelled for Eynesbury on the quarter hour, converting James Freshwater's free kick at the near post, but within four minutes a second Bartley goal restored Spencer's lead, the striker heading in Luke Stone's centre.
Lee Bassett hauled Rovers on terms seven minutes into the second half, firing home from 15 yards after Jack Weeden and Freshwater combined.
It looked like a double for the visitors when Freshwater gave them a 65th minute lead from the penalty spot after Luke Bartley brought down Bassett, but in the final minute Luke Bartley joined his brother on the scoresheet heading the home point saver.
