Adderbury Park  1    Oxford Irish  0

Saturday, 13 April 2013

Add: Dan Smith (Pen)
Adderbury Park took all three points in the return fixture vs Oxford Irish, having drawn 1-1 at Quarry Recreation Ground on the previous Saturday. There was very little to choose between the two sides for much of the first half, both teams creating few scoring chances.
The second half continued in much the same vein on a pitch that was becoming wetter and heavier in driving rain. In the 32nd minute, an Oxford Irish player was adjudged to have handled the ball in the penalty area, and Adderbury Park were awarded a penalty. Dan Smith stepped up to take the spot-kick, and coolly slotted the ball into the Oxford Irish net to give the home team a 1-0 lead. For the remaining minutes of the game, the visitors worked hard to get back on terms, but the home team defended resolutely to retain their narrow lead, and end the game as winners.
