Newport Pagnell Town  2    St Neots Town  1

Tuesday, 18 August 2009

St Neots suffered their first reverse of the season as the Swans collected their first three point haul.

Newport's Rob Macdonald was close to the opening goal with a shot which hit the post, Darren Lynch firing over from the loose ball.

Vinny Shrieves put the Swans in front from close range after nineteen minutes following a penetrating run by Jordan Spruce and Darren Lynch added a second for Newport ten minutes before the break, scrambling the ball over the line from close in after Macdonald supplied the cross.

St Neots pushed forward after the break and had penalty claims turned down before Spruce cleared off the home goalline from substitute Josh Sozzo.

In form Saints marksman Liam Harrold reduced the arrears after 74 minutes, converting Sozzo's pull back, but it wasn't sufficient to preserve his side's unbeaten record.
