Whitworths 4 Eynesbury Rovers 5
Saturday, 29 September 2007
Rovers sprang the surprise of the Division One campaign so far as they inflicted a first home reverse on the Flourmen since April 2006.
Eynesbury went ahead through Peter Collins after 25 minutes and five minutes later the visitors' advantage was doubled by Kris Watters.
Collins made it three after 37 minutes but Whitworths showed their fighting qualities by hauling themselves back into the contest with goals from James Daldy on 40 minutes and Matt Freeman on 43 reducing the interval margin to a single goal.
Kirk Kidd scored Eynesbury's fourth, a header from a corner after seventy minutes and a second of the afternoon from Watters four minutes later proved enough to give Dean Shipp's side their first win of the season.
Rovers had some anxious moments though as Whitworths finished strongly. Ian Symington marked his debut with a goal off the post ten minutes from time and the gap was again reduced to a single goal by Dan Spaughton after 88 minutes - but it was too little too late for the Flourmen to prevent a second defeat of the season.
