Oakley 5 Garsington 1
Saturday, 07 September 2013
James Keeble, Kieron Schmidt (2), Nick Gurney, Paul Brown
Gars: Jamie Debanks
Oakley welcomed Garsington to the Durnabau on Saturday and walked away with a 5-1 win without actually playing very well.
Oakley were very disjointed in the first half, unable to keep a good shape or pass to each other and Garsington took advantage causing several problems but without too much end product.
It was the home side however that opened the scoring when the ball fell to Nick Gurney in the area and he smashed home for 1-0. The score remained the same till half time where some harsh words were exchanged in the dressing room due to the teams performance.
Second half and although there were individual moments of brilliance the game itself was still pretty poor, both teams let themselves down, getting involved in stupid altercations which may have been down to frustration but nether-less pretty embarrassing.
Oakley goals were from a Keeble free kick which although claimed by Gray was awarded to the skipper, Kieron Schmitt scored twice, the pick a 40 yard lob over the keeper. Paul brown finished the scoring when a Rob Goaldney cross was flicked on by Kev Poole and Brown calmly slotted home. Garsington scored late on, some good skill on the edge of the box, gave debanks enough time to curl the ball left footed round the keeper for a lovely finish.
Oakley will be glad to forget that game and hope to pick up again in the county cup next week where they take on Sml div 1 opponents Stony Stratford, featuring old Arsenal player Christopher Wreh, as for me? I'm off to pay the groundsman, you couldn't make it up....Yes thanks.
