Adderbury Park 4 Mansfield Rd 2
Saturday, 10 November 2012
Add: Jake Smith, John Danby, Lee Timms, Steve Hirons
Mansfield: Dan Trinder, Abdulla Almahri
An evenly matched start to the game, with both teams creating scoring opportunities, but it wasn’t until the 40th minute that Adderbury Park went to sleep and allowed three Mansfield Road players to attack on the break, and the visitors to score through Dan Trinder. In the closing minutes of the first half, Adderbury Park were awarded a free kick, and Jake Smith scored an excellent goal into the top right-hand corner to level the scores at the break.
Five minutes into the second half, Adderbury took the lead for the first time in the game when John Danby scored for the home team with a fine solo effort. Adderbury were now taking control of the game, but Mansfield Road didn’t give up, and still fought hard to get the equaliser. Halfway through the second half, Lee Timms connected with a great Jake Smith cross to take the score to 3-1, but 10 minutes later Mansfield Road got one back through Abdulla Almahri to set up a tense final 10 minutes. In the last minute of the match, Steve Hirons put the result beyond doubt with Adderbury’s fourth goal, despite a wicked deflection off of a Mansfield Road defender.
