Second Round Qualifying
Felixstowe & Walton United 3 Sleaford Town 4
Saturday, 22 September 2007
It was a Vase debut to remember for Sleaford as their superb comeback reaped its reward in Suffolk.
Keith Hetherington gave Felixstowe a two goal lead, scoring after five minutes from a right wing cross and twenty minutes from a through pass, and when Danny Phillips added a third after a right wing build up ten minutes before the break Sleaford looked down and out.
The second half was a completely different story though. A home player was dismissed for spitting at the start of the half and Sleaford soon made the man advantage count. Jason Sedlan started the fightback five minutes after the restart, heading in after Miles Hunter and Jamie Shaw combined and Mick Stones equalised from close range two minutes past the hour after Jon Machin set up Shaw to cross.
The momentum was with Sleaford now and they squared the match a quarter of an hour from time through Shaun Bell's own goal, the defender turning the ball over the line after Kris Jones headed a Sedlan free kick onto the post.
With three minutes remaining Stones completed the comeback with Sleaford's winner, a header from a Shaw centre.
