Kent County Football League
2004-2005 Season
Inter-Regional Challenge Cup
Round 2

Woodstock Park  2    Snodland  1

Saturday, 20 November 2004

During Woodstocks first two seasons in the County League they could not buy a cup win but this year all that has changed as they seem to be saving some of their best performances for the cups.
On Saturday they caused something of an upset as they knocked out a team from the higher divsion when they won by the odd goal in three at home to Premier division Snodland.
Richard King gave the Sittingbourne side a first half lead with a fine strike and for much of a very even game it seemed that could be the final score.
Snodland did press very hard in the second half but for once the Woodstock team were putting in a much better defensive performance. However, when Rob Wade equalised it was no more than the visitors had deserved. Within a few minutes though Woodstock were back in front when top marksman James Ellis restored their lead which they held onto until the final whistle. For the first time this season the home team Manager Mick Ress was happy with his teams defending.
The third round will see Woodstock at home to Sheppey United on the 8.1.05. Next week they are back in League action at home to unbeaten Betteshanger with the kick off at The Park 2.00pm
