Newly promoted Borden Village started their football season in Division 1 east of the county league on Saturday with a home game against Kennington, this was an eagerly awaited match not only it being their first of the season but it was a rematch of lasts season weald of kent cup final and the home side wanted revenge. Borden had a few new faces and a few old faces in the side and it was one of the new faces Ryan Thompson who scored the first goal for the home side after 3 minutes of the game kicking off, Kennington put the pressure on and came close after 10 mins only to be denied by a brilliant save by Dodge Smith. 6 minutes in to the second half and Chris Burt rose to a crossed ball and powerfully headed the ball home to net Borden's second, Manager Ian Knocker Williams made a few changes and bought on Dan Buckle who went very close to scoring with his second touch of the game, Kennington kept piling the pressure on and 37 minutes into the half they were awarded a free kick which was put away by Ian Seamons. Borden are away next saturday to Betteshanger Welfare.
