St Neots Town  2    Bourne Town  0

Tuesday, 07 March 2006

Bourne proved a tough nut to crack but the Saints extended their winning run to six Premier matches thanks to two late goals. The Wakes had conceded only two goals in five matches and they proved resilient opponents. Goalline clearances from Mark O'Dea and Aaron Ridout denied home pair James Hatch and Mark Franklin in the first half while Gary Walker had the ball in the visiting net only to be flagged offside. After the break Bourne's Sam Bettinson was thwarted by a Nick Hurst clearance off the line. Just nine minutes remained when Walker broke the deadlock for St Neots with a scrambled effort after a great run and cross from Hatch, and four minutes later Hatch fired through a crowd of players after Matt Endersby's free kick was only half cleared to seal a win which lifted the Saints to seventh place in the Premier table.
