Deeping Rangers 2 Blackstones 0
Monday, 05 April 2010
Stones' lack of a cutting edge proved costly as Deeping made it thirteen matches unbeaten with this derby success.
The woodwork denied Blackstones the lead on the quarter hour. Kevin Ainslie's inswinging corner struck the frame of the goal with Darren Glover's follow up header bouncing to safety off the woodwork.
Rangers took the lead after 20 minutes, Ben Porter's deep flag kick headed in by the unmarked Danny Hussey at the far post.
Stones threat came mainly from set plays with Danny Bircham tipping over from Ainslie's free kick and Jon Stead chipping another free kick onto the roof of the home net.
With a quarter of an hour remaining Ainslie's dismissal put the match beyond the visitors.
Deeping sealed their win after 87 minutes. The Stones defence failed to deal with John-Paul Duncliffe's pull back and Ash Stevens volleyed in from fifteen yards.
