Cogenhoe United  4    Boston Town  4

Saturday, 04 March 2006

Cogenhoe's prospects of retaining their title suffered a setback as two points slipped through their grasp in a thrilling finale at Compton Park. Veteran striker Darren Collins gave the Cooks the lead after only two minutes, only for namesake Nathan Collins to level for the Poachers on the quarter hour with a header from a Paul Goodhand free kick. Ten minutes before the interval Darren Collins restored Cogenhoe's advantage after being set up by Tom McGowan. It was a goal from another seasoned campaigner, Boston's Gary Bull, after 75 minutes, which sparked a late flurry of goals. With seven minutes to play Jonny Rowan gave Boston the lead from Goodhand's pass only for a third from Darren Collins to square the contest after 85 minutes. Steve Diggin looked to have won it for the champions after 87 minutes with a stinging half volley but Goodhand earned Boston a share of the spoils after 89 minutes direct from a free kick.
