Stotfold  7    Rothwell Corinthians  2

Saturday, 27 March 2010

After conceding twelve goals in two meetings with the Eagles last season, Corinths had another day to forget.

It took 43 minutes for George Brinkman to break the deadlock for Stotfold, only for Sam Johnson to equalise in the 45th minute.

Two minutes into added time at the end of the first half Leon Gutzmore restored the home advantage with a header.

The second half started as the first half had finished - with goals in abundance.

Brinkman scored his second two minutes in with Paul Garrett joining the spree with a volley on 49 minutes.

Gutzmore was unlucky with a header which hit the crossbar and bounced on the line before being scrambled clear.

Garrett scored his second from close range after 54 minutes before Johnson reduced the deficit two minutes later.

Stotfold's response was a fiercely struck sixth goal from Josh Bickerstaff on 58 minutes, and a minute later Corinths were reduced to ten men by Micky Harman's dismissal!

They fared much better with ten men than with eleven, conceding just one more goal to Gutzmore after 73 minutes!
