St Ives Town  0    Blackstones  2

Blackstones avenged their recent Knockout Cup defeat with this convincing win on a heavy Westwood Road pitch.

Stones started strongly and home keeper Gavin Armitage made good early saves from Mark Jones and Jon Stead.

St Ives' first opening saw Declan Rogers cross for Ozie Foster to tee up Matt Bannister, but his shot deflected to safety off a defender.

Blackstones took the lead after 31 minutes when Andy Boome's header sent Avellino Vieira clear of the home rearguard to slot home.

Ian Flavell in the visiting goal thwarted Dan Moyes after the wide man cut inside to get in a low shot.

The visitors doubled their lead three minutes into the second half with Jon Stead releasing Elton Holmes into space on the right to apply a clinical finish.

As Stones continued to impress Stead curled a shot narrowly wide from distance, and from a deep Holmes corner Richard Jones headed against the foot ofthe post.

St Ives enjoyed plenty of the ball in the final quarter but rarely looked like penetrating a determined Stones defence.
