Final

Corby Town  3    Daventry Town  2

Wednesday, 17 March 2010

Daventry almost bridged the three division gap between the sides, narrowly coming up short at the Rockingham Triangle.

Steve Diggin's 17th minute penalty for the Steelmen, awarded for Jason lee's trip on Glenn Walker, was cancelled out by Russ Dunkley  who found space to get on the end of a free kick six minutes later.

Corby regained the lead after 41 minutes through Brett Solkhon, after a handling error by Town keeper Joe Mellings, but again Daventry produced a speedy response with Ryan Howell squaring the tie with a shot from the edge of the box within a minute.

After the interval Josh O'Grady went close with a low drive and Dunkley had the ball in the Steelmen's but was adjudged to have fouled the keeper.

Leon Mettam's 73rd minute goal from Jack Defty's pass won the trophy for Corby.

Daventry: Joe Mellings, Paul Saunders, Martin Hutchcox (Andy Gregory), Jason Lee, Josh O'Grady, Ryan Howell, Adam Confue, Richard Wesley (Josh Blake), Tom Berwick (Danny Nelson), Russ Dunkley.
