Huntingdonshire FA - Senior Cup
Godmanchester Rovers 1 St Ives Town 3
Saturday, 06 March 2010
St Ives overturned an interval deficit to book a semi final meeting with league rivals Yaxley.
The Saints dominated the first half but were unable to score, with Declan Rogers' shot against the post the closest they came
An upset beckoned when Paul Bass gave Goddy the lead a minute before half time, lobbing the ball over Rob Mackney from 25 yards.
The second period saw a quick turn round in fortunes though as St Ives' dead ball expertise turned the game.
A rare Tim Quy volley squared the contest on 49 minutes after Will Fordham knocked down a Rogers free kick, and three minutes later St Ives took the lead through Rogers' great dead ball strike after Jason King was fouled.
The visitors wrapped up their win with a 69th minute Ricky Dear goal, a glancing header at the near pot Ricky Dear from a Dan Moyes free kick.
