Daventry's double hopes were ended by a double comeback from the Swans at Willen Road.

There was an early setback for Daventry as Josh Blake was red carded for retaliating to a Richard Armstrong challenge.

After a scoreless first half Jason Lee gave Daventry the lead six minutes into the second period, netting with a half volley through a crowded penalty area.

Tom Berwick added a second visiting goal after 68 minutes, springing the offside trap as the championship favourites put one foot in the final.

Chelly Nkong's first Newport goal after 75 minutes, set up by substitute Matt Broomes, put the Swans back in the tie and with four minutes later Daren Dykes hauled the home side on terms with a header from a corner.

Berwick restored Daventry's lead two minutes into extra time, but Newport redoubled their efforts and again equalised through James Fletcher's header after 98 minutes.

Vinny Shrieves won it for the Swans after 103 minutes, punishing a handling error by Daventry keeper Joe Mellings..
