Saturday, 27 February 2010

Top scorer Liam Harrold hit a hat trick for the Saints as they breezed into the last four of the Senior Cup.

It took just eleven minutes for St Neots to go in front through Harrold who looped a header in from a Danny French corner, and the lead was doubled by Dan Jacob's low shot after 20 minutes.

When Harrold scored his second, a close range header at the far post after Tony Scully beat two defenders nine minutes before the interval the home side's place in the semis was secure.

There was no let up after the interval with Scully putting his name on the scoresheet with a free kick via the underside of the bar after 47 minutes and Harrold completing his hat trick a minute later, netting at the near post after Jacob and Michael Hyem combined on the left.

Michael Hyem had the last word after 71 minutes, with his long range shot beating a goalkeeper distracted by Harrold's run across his line of vision.

St Neots: Luke McShane, Chris Hyem, Michael Hyem, Luke Knight, Glen Fuff, Jordan Gent, Matt Kenneford (Jon Mitchell), Danny French, Liam Harrold, Dan Jacob, Tony Scully.
