Irchester United  2    Desborough Town  1

Saturday, 22 September 2012

The Romans picked up a confidence boosting victory, their first of the new season, as they moved away from the foot of the Premier table.

After an even first half Ar Tarn had the better of the second period, but were wasteful in front of goal and found home custodian Michael Freeman in fine form.

A 79th minute Callum Harris goal wonder made the breakthrough for Irchester.

The win seem to have slipped through their grasp when Tom Mills levelled for Ar Tarn with five minutes to play.

That was still time enough for Irchester to win it, with Luke Abrahart snatching the 88th minute decider to sink his old club.
