Northampton ON Chenecks 4 Eynesbury Rovers 3
Saturday, 15 September 2007
After nine successive first hurdle exits from the Knockout Cup Chenecks finally ended the sequence on a drama filled afternoon at Billing Road.
Chenecks goalkeeper Ben Goodger could only help Stuart Humphreys' shot into his own net as Eynesbury took a 22nd minute lead, but Marc Cross squared the contest on the half hour.
On the stroke of half time Peter Collins gave Rovers the lead again, heading in a James Dove cross.
Eynesbury were reduced to ten men by Kirk Kidd's second yellow caution but it needed a last minute Lee Bradley goal to take the tie into extra time.
Lee Haines put Chenecks ahead after 98 minutes from 20 yards but Kriss Watters hauled Eynesbury on terms ten minutes later, scoring at the near post after his first effort rebounded from the post.
With a penalty shootout just seconds away Bradley won it for Andy Marks's men in the last of the 120 minutes, converting a spot kick to take his side through.
