United Counties Football League
2007-2008 Season

Division One

Eynesbury Rovers  1    Buckingham Town  1

Saturday, 16 February 2008

Buckingham are the lower grade's draw specialists - this was their eighth stalemate in nineteen league games.

Eynesbury's initiative in reducing admission to £1 was rewarded with their second best gate of the season, and the closest the spectators saw to a first half goal was a 25 yard free kick against the crossbar from Buckingham player manager Tony Joyce.

When Chris Robson broke the deadlock with a 69th minute spot kick for Buckingham following a foul by Eynesbury's debutant keeper Ricky Dent they looked set to complete a double over Rovers, but the home side squared the contest two minutes from time with Dwayne Rankin's third goal in successive matches, a six yard finish following Jamie Graham's penetrating run.

There was still time for Rovers to go close to a winner, Rankin denied a second goal when his header was cleared off the visiting goalline.
