Tuesday, 11 September 2007
Stotfold moved back to the top of the table with an emphatic win over a Kempston side strengthened by a number of new recruits.
Early on Brad Gillham rescued the Eagles saving Leon Gutzmore's spot kick and follow up header after Tommy Hull was adjudged to have fouled Tony Fontanelle.
Lee Allinson gave the Eagles the lead after 18 minutes from a Ryan Nicholl centre and they went further in front on the half hour through Mark Bryant whose ball to the back post dipped late deceiving Kevin Higby in the Kempston goal.
Debutant Fontanelle gave the Walnut Boys hope when he reduced the arrears a minute before half time, scoring from the spot after again being fouled by Hull. ian Morrison's dispute of the award saw him depart after receiving a second yellow card.
Paul Garrett restored Stotfold's two goal margin with a right foot shot after 66 minutes, rounding off a move involving Allianson and Bbby Dance and the win was sealed ten minutes from time by a fourth Stotfold goal from Dance who glanced in a header from a corner.
