Long Buckby  3    St Neots Town  1

Saturday, 09 February 2008

Long Buckby boosted their honours bid with this win over their title rivals. The Saints now have it all to do to reach a promotion position having played the most games of any of the top seven.

Ben Foster fired Buckby in front from the penalty spot six minutes in following a foul by Dean McElroy on Steve Blackwood, but the home side suffered a setback on the half hour when Darren Harmon was red carded.

Darren Lynch netted for the hosts only to be ruled offside while Blackwood fired against the Saints crossbar from 25 yards.

With twenty five minutes remaining recent recruit Blackwood doubled Buckby's lead, latching on to a Lynch back heel and cutting in from the left flank to score. Substitute Chris Johnson's debut reply for the Saints, a diving header from a Steve Dogbe cross two minutes later kept the contest alive.

With four minutes left Foster's 28th domestic goal of the season sealed a vital Bucks' victory, the striker running onto Jon Crockett's through pass to score.
