Saturday, 23 January 2010

Eynesbury claimed local bragging rights as they took the points in a combustible Jubilee Park derby.

After a bright Huntingdon start Rovers looked the more dangerous with Gavin Batt and Adam Podgorski testing Town keeper Dave Beeny.

When Huntingdon replied Dwayne Rankin twice spurned openings.

Craig Lanham's 44th minute goal proved decisive as Rovers kept up their promotion challenge. The midfielder fired home from 18 yards after a long throw from Adam Podgorski was only half cleared by the Huntngdon defence.

Podgorski was closest to a second half goal, hitting the inside of the post with a fierce drive.

Late on a challenge from Craig Smith on Rankin saw the Huntingdon player dismissed for retaliation and Antony Thomas followed for his part in the subsequent skirmish.
