Bourne Town 0 Deeping Rangers 3
Friday, 23 December 2005
Deeping moved out of the bottom four with an ultimately convincing win over the Wakes at the Abbey Lawn. There was little between the sides in a low key first half with Bourne's Miles Mason forcing an early save from Danny Bircham in the Rangers goal and Dave Robertson testing home custodian Mick Hurst.
A lively finish to the half saw Sam Bettinson head over from a Michael Stevenson cross for Bourne and Lee Ellison head over at the near post from a corner when Deeping replied. Robertson again went close before Deeping took a 44th minute lead, Ellison scoring from the penalty spot after Lovas Laszlo was felled by Neal Spafford.
Deeping doubled their lead five minutes into the second half when Laszlo's pass split the home defence to play in Jarrod Smith who crashed a shot home from the edge of the box.
The Wakes rarely looked like getting back in the game and with eighteen minutes to play a stunning strike by Robertson from the right hand edge of the box wrapped up a big win for Rangers who almost added a fourth late on after Robertson took a return pass from Jarrod Smith only for Hurst to tip the ball round the post.
