Long Buckby 2 Daventry United 2
Monday, 09 April 2012
A stoppage time goal kept Buckby's title hopes hanging by a thread as the Motormen went close to a famous victory.
Jamie Gould gave United the lead after eight minutes firing a free kick into the top corner but in form striker Michael Byrne equalised for Buckby six minutes later, converting a delivery from the right.
The title chasers squandered the opportunity to go in front when Motormen keeper Anthony O'Connor saved Dan Quigley's spot kick which had resulted from a foul on David Glass.
In the final minute of the half Gould restored Daventry's lead after a break on the left.
Buckby piled on the pressure in the second half but found O'Connor in outstanding form.
When the United keeper was beaten the post rescued him keeping out a Richard Bunting shot
Tom O'Brien snatched a vital close range equaliser three minutes into added time.
