Deeping Rangers 2 Quorn 4
Saturday, 15 September 2012
Deeping suffered a second successive reverse as Quorn outgunned them in an eventful encounter at Outgang Road.
Quorn went ahead nine minutes in when a Tyrone Kirk corner was only half cleared and fed back to the wide who cut inside before arrowing a shot into the far corner of the net.
Rangers levelled after 19 minutes. Alex Beck's shrewd pass played David Burton-Jones in behind the defence and his cross shot was turned in by Michael Byrne from close range.
Quorn were back in front on 34 minutes when Chris Logan was adjudged to have pushed Kris Nurse. Kirk's spot kick was kept out by James Doughty but the wide man was first to react and slotted home the loose ball.
Deeping produced a quick response levelling after 37 minutes when Harry Deane's through ball sent Byrne clear to lob Ross Whalin.
A flowing build up started by Kirk and continued by Luke Edwards ended with Chris Gray picked out Edwards who had continued his run to slot home in the last minute of the opening half.
Quorn extended their advantage on 54 minutes. Nurse brokle clear on the left and his shot was blocked only for Edwards to follow up with a tap in.
Byrne headed against the far post from a Beck delivery, and on the hour Quorn were reduced to ten men as Edwards received a second yellow card.
Byrne curled a free kick against the post and then missed a gilt edged chance with a free header as Rangers sought in vain to get back into the match.
It finished ten apiece as Harry Deane departed for a second caution in the dying seconds.
