Friday, 06 April 2012
Potton halted a long losing run to complete their first double of the season.
The Royals were much the better side in a first half in which the Nurserymen failed to work home keeper Aaron loney.
The home side took the lead twenty minutes in when Graham Tibbals found space in the box to convert Nick Cooper's pass.
Cooper had a shot tipped round the post by Olney's debutant keeper Sam Jay, but he had better fortune four minutes later with a shot from the edge of the box to double Potton's advantage.
A lively start to the second half saw Sam Bonham have a free kick saved for Potton while at the other end Dean Torto put a header wide.
Olney raised their game in the closing stages and Loney saved well from Micky O'Farrell after a counter attack on the right.
The Nurserymen were back in the game on 83 minutes when Jarred Cunniff's shot was handled by Dean Hamilton and Sam Parrish converted the spot kick.
Potton sought to wrap up the game and Cooper's lob beat Jay but not covering defender Danny O'Farrell on the line.
The points were Potton on 88 minutes when Tibbals showed persistance to regain the ball on the right and crossed to the near post for Hamilton to fire into the roof of the net.
In time added Loney proved his worth with fine saves from Geoff Baffo and David Boanoh.
