There was a second successive final defeat for the Lankies in this competition as they were again beaten by Reserve Division One opposition.

Lee Purser gave Whitworth the lead with a header from a corner after twenty minutes, but three minutes later Tony Graham levelled for the Lankies, converting at the far post after a set piece was flicked on.

The Flourmen regained the lead after 44 minutes through Ant Sharp who looped a header in off the angle of post and bar.

Ryan Lovell ensured the tie went with status, punishing a defensive slip to score a third for Whitworth after 68 minutes.
