St Neots Town  2    Stotfold  5

Tuesday, 06 December 2005

A stunning Stotfold comeback gave the Eagles their fifth win in six outings and enabled them to avenge an early season reverse at home to the Saints. St Neots had lost their three previous games but looked set for a change in fortune when Gary Walker's 5th minute opener from Jon Hoggett's through pass was followed by a 22nd goal of the campaign for Steve Kuhne twelve minutes later, a header from a Matt Endersby free kick. Ady Bascombe put Stotfold back in the match after 34 minutes after a Darren Dykes pass and a devastating scoring burst brought them four goals in eighteen second half minutes. Dykes levelled after 57 minutes, latching onto Callum Brown's header and firing in off the post. Richard Pringle gave the Eagles the lead after 63 minutes with Dykes the creator this time. Dykes extended the lead with his second goal after 71 minutes converting a Bascombe cross and Bascombe followed suit a quarter of an hour from time to wrap up the points for the visitors with a near post finish from Leon Cashman's corner.
