Three times winners Desborough advanced to the last eight of the Knockout Cup with an extra time success at Eslaforde Park.
The home side were closest to a first half goal when a Kris Jones header was blocked on the line by Michael Stanton.
A rare goal from Stuart McClarty put Ar Tarn into a 56th minute lead with Sleaford's reserve keeper Ricky Drury unable to keep out the midfielder's 30 yard effort, but with three minutes to play Sleaford were awarded a penalty for handball and Matt Lunn gratefully accepted the lifeline, converting the spot kick.
In the dying seconds Sleaford thought they had won the tie when Jason Sedlan converted a Lunn cross but the ball had been over the by line when centred.
Ar Tarn won the contest thanks to a Jamie O'Neill goal four minutes from the end of extra time, the striker punishing an Oliver Sidney slip. Desborough now visit Potton in the quarters.
