Daventry United  1    Daventry Town  3

Wednesday, 26 December 2007

Town proved too strong for local rivals United in the Daventry derby at Royal Oak Way and their win gave them an eleven point lead at the head of Division One.

The home side were first on the scoresheet, Tommy Waldock on the mark after twelve minutes play after latching onto a loose ball in the box, but it took just a minute for United to level through Danny Finlay following a corner.

Richard Wesley proved the Town matchwinner with a double strike late in the second half. He gave the visitors the lead three minutes past the hour after the United defence failed to pick him up at the far post.

Wesley's 88th minute second, a free kick, sealed Town's thirteenth successive win.
