Sleaford took another step towards Premier safety while plunging Irchester deeper into trouble.
Chris Gell's first game as Irchester boss looked like ending in stalemate until substitute Jamie Shaw snatched victory for Sleaford with eight minutes remaining. The record marksman slotted home after Liam Tunstall's shot rebounded from the crossbar.
The Romans played the bulk of the contest a man down after Liam Craig-Boucher's first half dismissal for a late challenge on Kris Jones.
Tunstall, Sam Husband and Tim Beadles missed chances as Sleaford dominated.
