Spalding United  2    Newport Pagnell Town  1

Saturday, 18 February 2012

There was a first win at the helm for Tulips boss Pat Rayment as his side made light of the dismissal of Josh Ford to triumph.

Dom Marsala's second minute opener saw him round keeper Nick Conroy to give the Swans a great start.

Spalding had a let off when Richard Armstrong struck the woodwork, and Daren Dykes missed a great chance as Newport dominated the first half.

Ricky Miller hauled Spalding on terms six minutes into the second half, breaking clear and slotting home with a near post finish.

Ford's exit left the Tulips facing an uphill task, but they won the contest through Tom James after 77 minutes, the wide man converting a Danny French pass.

Swans boss Darren Lynch was close to an equaliser in added time, but was narrowly off target.
