Saturday, 18 February 2012
Potton broke their goal drought in style as they picked up their first win of 2012 against the basement Bones.
James Warboys scored the Royals' first goal in six outings on the quarter hour, converting a Jamie Steele through ball, but Luke McAuley's 34th minute penalty, awarded for a Tom Blow foul, squared the game.
Graham Tibbals restored Potton's lead after 42 minutes, rounding home keeper James Burrows to convert a Simon Pearce pass but within a minute Loia Burton scored a second home equaliser after breaking clear of the visiting rearguard.
Tibbals gave Potton the lead for a third time with a shot off the post after 46 minutes, and Pearce extended it five minutes later, heading in Jamie Steele's flick on.
Louis Gilkes gave Rothwell hope after 59 minutes after Matt Steele was caught in possession but within two minutes Jamie Steele had restored the visitors' two goal margin, running onto a Pearce ball to score.
Tibbals completed his hat trick in the final minute, Worboys the provider.
