Cray Valley (PM)  0    Bearsted  0

Saturday, 08 November 2008

Played on very wet afternoon this game pitched together two evenly mach sides both placed in a similar position in the table. Generally it was Bearsted who seemed to enjoy most of the possession putting together some neat moves without really making the most of some great opportunities. However they still had to be mindful of the threat coming from the trickery of Cray’s front runners who on several occasions found themselves in on goal but failing to capitalise. This was to be the pattern throughout the game, particurlary in the second half with the away side enjoying advantage of the slope. Both sides were also guilty of wasting too many passes and with the conditions becoming more difficult as the game wore on, a series of goal scoring opportunities still came about at both ends. Perhaps it was the home side who might feel more disappointed not to have won after a series of breaks on goal resulted in clear chances being squandered. Indeed they did think that they had scored 15 minutes from time when they did get the ball into the net only for them to be denied by an assistant’s flag. With time running out and Bearsted continuing to push forward looking for a goal, yet susceptible to the quick break, it was goalkeeper Jason Reeves who was to be their saviour, making three remarkable saves which ultimately allowed the game to finish with a (S.Smith) result reflecting the efforts of both sides.
