The Romans picked up their first league point since day one of the season, sharing the spoils with third from botton Eynesbury at Alfred Street.
Eynesbury opened the scoring with a 23rd minute Gary Marks own goal, the defender turning a David Watts cross past his own keeper.
The pendulum swung Irchester's way at the start of the second half though. Gary McCourtie levelled after 47 minutes and three minutes later Dave Maguire fired the Romans ahead from the penalty spot after McCourtie was fouled by Dan Woodhead. Jason Vaughan then hit the post as Irchester sought a third.
Eynesbury earned a point with an 81st minute equaliser from Woodhead who turned from villain to hero with a header from a corner.
