Stonesfield: Mick Phipps Chalgrove went down to their fourth defeat of the season with a closely fought encounter at home to Stonesfield on Saturday. Manager Adam Cowling was able to recall Jonny Cox at the back and he was the only change as he came in for the suspended Rob Armstrong whilst Ricky Armstrong returned to the squad after a head injury. The game itself wasn't one which will live long in the memory as neither side created much in the way of clear cut chances. The away side were keeping the ball better than their hosts but a bobbly pitch made it difficult for both sides. Chalgrove were looking more organised than they have done at times this season with the defence working hard to keep Stonesfield at bay whilst Foy & Brown worked tirelessly in the middle to combat Stonesfield's midfield 3. The only goal of the game came when Chalgrove failed to clear their lines deep in to first half stoppage time and that allowed the visitors to work a cross from the right which was headed home by a Stonesfield midfielder. The second half was much the same as the first with chances few and far between, Stonesfield hit the post with a free-kick whilst Simon Godfrey saw his effort creep a yard wide when put in on goal by Tim Cox and Nick Skiller saw his late header tipped over. Chalgrove did all they could in the final 10 minutes to get an equaliser that they'd worked so hard for but it wasn't to be and Stonesfield collected all 3 points.
