Kent County Football League
2006-2007 Season
West Kent Challenge Shield
Round 2

Westerham  1    Orpington  2

Saturday, 11 November 2006

Orpington, the holders, came from behind to beat Westerham and progress into quarter-finals of the West Kent Challenge Shield.

This was always going to be a difficult encounter for the O’s who had fought out a one-all draw at home to Westerham in a league match, earlier in the season.

Westerham had gone into the game on the back of some impressive wins, so when Orpington conceded in the first minute of the match, things did not look good.  However, the O’s got into their stride and put the home side’s goal under pressure..

Fielding four forwards, the O’s were never going to be short of fire power and it was no surprise when Gary Gorman got the equalizer.  The goal gave the O’s the confidence to go all-out for the winner, which sure enough was was provided by leading goal scorer, Billy Webb.

The win sets-up the O’s with home tie in the next round with fellow title contenders, Bly Spartans.

This Saturday, Orpington are at home in the league to Larkfield & New Hythe Wanderers.
