Wellingborough Town 2004 1 Bourne Town 1

The Doughboys saw two more points elude them on home soil as a battling display by a depleted Wakes side earned a share of the spoils at the Dog & Duck.
Ben Derbyshire in the visitors goal was called into early action to tip over Rob Gould's header from a corner, but Wellingborough took the lead eight minutes in. Jon Mitchell's header was blocked on the line by Chris Hutchcraft with the referee deciding the defender had handled to the annoyance of the Bourne players who claimed the shoulder had deflected the ball to safety. Kevin Byrne finished confidently from the spot.
Bourne looked dangerous on the break and Mark Jones's snap shot forced Alex Malong into a full length save on the half hour, while at the end of the half Derbyshire saved well from Alfie Taylor whose solo run created the chance.
There was a shock for the Doughboys after 53 minutes as the Wakes broke quickly from a home corner. Scott Spearink fed Jones on the right and his cross found Andy Wayte who volleyed home.
Five minutes later an Aaron Ridout challenge on Dan Spaughton was judged illegal but this time Byrne's spot kick hit the bar.
Midway through the half Wayte intercepted a wayward pass and broke clear. Malong in the home goal saved well but was relieved that Spearink's follow up failed to hit the target.
The last quarter of the contest was dominated by the Doughboys. David Glass and Taylor went close while Jon Mitchell missed a great opportunity after Taylor played him clear.
A Glass free kick found Gould whose header brought another fine save from Derbyshire, and the Wakes held out despite losing John Currall to a second caution in the closing stages.
