Carlton Town 3 Oadby Town 2
Saturday, 25 August 2012
Oadby came close to an upset against Carlton, two levels higher.
Michael Reeve gave the Leicestershire side a third minute lead, punishing defensive hesitancy, and Oadby dominated the opening stages without being able to add to their lead.
Ian Brown squared the contest a minute before the interval, scoring from close in from a Reuben Wiggins-Thomas free kick.
Wiggins-Thomas put Carlton into a 64th minute lead after jinking into the box.
Oadby fought back to level through Jon Stevenson after 73 minutes, the one time Leicester City man slotting home after Martin Kearney parried a 20 yard drive from Che Adams.
The home side won it with a 76th minute Matt Varley penalty, awarded for Sam Benjamin's foul on Wes Henry.
Oadby: Warren Butlin, Ross Trevor (Kris Stevenson), Tom Williams, Ashley Brown, Sam Benjamin, Jim Dodds, Jake Duffy, Che Adams (Mason Hirst), Michael Reeve, Jon Stevenson, Joe Cobb (Ollie Brown-Hill).
