Northamptonshire FA Junior Cup
Daventry United 5 Daventry Town 3
Saturday, 20 October 2007
United avenged their earlier Knockout Cup defeat by their neighbours as they inflicted a first defeat of the season on Town.
Tony Burt gave United the lead on the quarter hour with a left footed drive and five minutes later he added a second for the home side, sliding the ball under the goalkeeper.
Adam Confue replied for Town after 35 minutes with a header from a corner but two goals in two minutes left United well in control at the break, Tommy Waldock scoring their third goal after 40 minutes with a deft chip and Burt completing his hat trick two minutes later, heading in a Jamie Jollands free kick.
Tom Berwick reduced the deficit on the hour after breaking down the right but the three goal United margin was restored by Wayne Richardson who headed in a Jollands centre after 67 minutes.
Josh O'Grady's 80th minute strike for Town came too late to influence the outcome.
United: Darren Foster, Ben Collins, Leigh Roberts, Jamie Moss, Aidy Pestell, Wayne Richardson, Lee Reynolds, Michael Parkes, Jamie Jollands, Tony Burt, Tommy Waldock.
