Newport Pagnell Town 6 Ardley United 2
Saturday, 25 August 2012
For the second round running Newport scored six against Hellenic League opposition.
The home side had an early let off as a Steve Howkins effort from distance struck the post.
Matt Broomes set the ball rolling for the Swans after 17 minutes, firing home after rounding his marker.
By the interval Newport had one foot in the next round as Daren Dykes struck after 35 minutes with a free kick which the keeper should have dealt better with and again 37 minutes.
Howkins replied for Ardley with a penalty awarded for handball five minutes into first half stoppage time.
Broomes scored his second goal after 55 minutes, beating four men in a solo run, and a minute later Dom Lawless put his name on the scoresheet, volleying in a centre from the right.
Lawless completed the home tally five minutes past the hour, netting from the spot after Carl Standen fouled Richard Armstrong.
Howkins scored a second Ardley penalty ten minutes from time.
Newport's win was marred slightly by the dismissal of defender Dave Baker in the closing stages.
Newport: Josh McAdoo, Massimo Lagioia, Keith Williams (Dave Baker), John Thorpe, Dean Buss, Liam Smyth, Jared Cunniff (Rob Tapp), Richard Armstrong, Daren Dykes, Dom Lawless, Matt Broomes (Enzo Carrillo).
