Yaxley  1    Boston Town  3

Tuesday, 15 November 2011

Yaxley remain in deep in trouble in the relegation zone after this defeat to a Poachers side on the up after two successive victories.

The Cuckoos had an early chance but Nick Davey's effort was blocked by the legs of goalkeeper Ricky Lovelace.

Boston struck four minutes in when Alex Beck swept home Danny Matson's inviting cross from close range.

Matson had a chance to extend the lead late in the half, but fired wide at full stretch after Kieran Davies and Sam Kirton combined on the left.

Yaxley showed little in the first half but almost levelled immediately on resumption when Davey played in Andy Beech but Lovelace saved well, and Liam Harrold finished weakly after being played through.

The Cuckoos were handed a great opportunity to level after 72 minutes when Ollie Pinner handled a Davey shot, but Ricky Hailstone's penalty was saved by Lovelace.

To add insult to injury Boston broke quickly and a Davies cross was headed home by Gary Bull at the back post on 73 minutes.

A solo effort by Beck sealed the visitors' victory after 77 minutes.

Yaxley scored a consolation a minute from time. Sam Bate's fierce shot was blocked, the Poachers defence failed to clear and Davey fired home.
