B E T T E R , NOT PERFECT , BUT B E T T E R .
On a midweek evening , a few " regular players " let the Marsh side down
by arriving late . ENOUGH SAID
Changes had to be made , and were , to the team and we got under way .
Marsh started with a confident mood , and after a short while DEAN RUSSELL
scored to put them ahead . Although the match was fairly evenly poised ,
Marsh were good value for their lead . Paul McGill; had l ooked in good form but
pulled up with a leg injury , and had to be substituted . In defence , Tony Heath ,
Luke Munro , Adam Ashby , & Dave Kearney looked to have the Spelthorne attack
under control . The Marsh forward line looked useful but was also kept under control by
the Spelthorne defence .
Chris Ranson & Paul Munro also played their part in pressing
Marsh forward . A few minutes before halftime , a Spelthorne attack led
to their equaliser when the Marsh defending was " found wanting " .
Marsh again took the lead in the second half when an " apparent offside " looking
effort was converted by SHANE THOMSON . This only lasted a short time before
a goal bound effort from Spelthorne hit the Marsh Rangers crossbar and
" appeared not to cross the line " on its way down but was given by the Referee .
( Perhaps Justice , but Marsh could have done with a little good luck . )
Both sides now were attacking , and it was Spelthorne that got the break , with their
third goal . Marsh continued to press forward but no further goals were forthcoming .
A much better performance ..... by those players that were there on time !!!!!!!!!
