Round 5
St Ives Town 1 Shildon 3
Saturday, 06 February 2010
St Ives bowed out of the Vase at the Fifth Round stage for the third season running, Shildon booking a quarter final place with two extra time goals.
After a scoreless first half which saw Will Fordham and Conor Washington go close for St Ives Sam Garvie broke the deadlock with a 58th minute opener for the Railwaymen following a corner.
Ozie Foster's 87th minute 12 yard reply from Jamie Blackwell's lay off took the tie into extra time, although it needed a great double save from Shildon keeper Keith Finch to deny St Ives a stoppage time success.
The reprieve was a temporary one for the Saints.
Garvie restored Shildon's advantage on 100 minutes with a great strike from 25 yards.
Martin Houlahan sealed the Durham outfit's quarter final place with four minutes to play.
